My family is all out of the Watchtower.
Some of my wifes family is still in.
They probably would enjoy a good stoning.
ot law required jews to take the lead in stoning a family member who became apostate.. the watchtower has lamented the fact that the law of the land now forbids them from doing so.. if the law permitted it, as it does in some musim countries, and if the watchtower required it, would your family obey?.
my parents are good people and i believe their love for me is genuine, but i think they would follow orders.. what about yours?.

i had been thinking about religion and religious services in general and perhaps i am just noticing it more because of my personal involvement but it seems that the jehovahs witness religion tends to have more incidents of mixed marriages where one partner is considered the unbelieving spouse than other religions or churches.
of course, i have not been to church is a while and even when i did go to church i found that there werent as many instances of a spouse going it alone in the church without their partner.
i guess that is partly why i got discouraged in going to church as i felt like i could only bring half my family to it.. the main thing i would like to discuss, though, is why does there seem to be a higher number of mixed marriages within this religion as opposed to other religions.
My father never was a JW.
And the congregation I went to back in the 50's -70's
a good number of the men, husbands were not witnesses.
I think the meetings were a way for the husbands to get a couple of nights and a day out
away from the family.
its been a very eye opening experience for me to find out that the god of the bible is as real as thor or ra.
i still believe a higher power created life but can see now how it doesn't really care about us.
so with this in mind realizing one has only 70-80 years to live and that may be just it, is very stunning..
Just wonder how you did it? Its been a very eye opening experience for me to find out that the god of the bible is as real as Thor or Ra. I have been coming to that realization for the past 30 years. That the bible God is as real as Thor or Ra.
I have dealt with it lots of ways. Keep busy, exercise. I have taken anti depressents which I am now weening myself off of.
I lived 62 years following a lot of Godly principals.
I picked and chose to satisfy myself.
I have done everything I can or was interested to do and could afford.
If I had 100 million dollars. I would just buy more things and have fancier things.
Which I have come to realize things dont make me happy. Maybe for 5 minutes to one day.
If I had 100 million I probably would travel, but I can see most things on the travel channel and cable tv
from the comfort and security of my home.
I like to think there is a higher power. Some forms of new age religion might be comforting.
There are a lot of possibilities to explore but you will never find the smoking gun.
If you do tell us and someone will tell you its not the gun and its not smoking.
Then again thinking there is a higher power that doesnt care about us is kind of like looking
behind the curtain at the wizard in Oz.
Curiosity killed the cat. Its an immage you cant get out of your mind the wizard in Oz.
Once you stretch the elastic out of youre underwear they never fit right anymore.
Thats the way your brain is when you find out the truth about the truth and the truth about life.
when i was a wee lad, there was a carnival atmosphere at assemblies as this old footage will show:.
.
http://www.britishpathe.com/video/witnesses-baptised/query/jehovahs+witnesses.
When I was like 5 to 8 years old and the assemblies were at the masonic temple in Cleveland. The assemblies were fun.
The Masonic temple was a neat old place to be.
I would run and hide all over that place.
i need a good fat-burner.
i am getting some serious love handles, and a gross poochy belly.
yeah, yeah...i drink almost every night, and this has been going on for almost 2 years, blah, blah..hic!?
I agree with Cofty.
I am 62. I eat a lot. I drink 4 beers a day maybe more on the weekend.
But I go to the gym and play soccer. When I play soccer I run the whole field.
I am soaking wet at the end of the game.
I eat breakfast a peanut butter and jelly or scrambled eggs on pupernickle.
I have a cup of cottage cheese for lunch.
And for dinner I have 3 to 4 beers meat and potatoes and tomatoes cucumbers and steamed vegetables.
I am 5'10 weigh 180 and 62 years old.
I either lift weights for an hour a day or play soccer 6 days out of seven
i'm having an exam in mineralogy in 20 days and need to learn 120+ pages of content.
i've learned a part of it so far.
i'm just curious how did you/do you study?
When i had to study for something that had the reward of a job or money.
I would immerse myself in the material, use mnemonics.
And also participate in study groups.
Study groups of 2 maybe up to the whole class.
If you sit around with others trying to master the material, you talk with them about what they know vs what you know
vs what you need to know.
the watchtower (and old-timers in the org) love to quote old testament passages that were directed toward israel.
however, the new testament is "a better covenant based upon better promises".. in the following verses, salvation is not described as a possibility, but as a certainty, as a present possession for the original christians:.
justification is a present possession (rom.
You will both be spitting me out pretty soon.
Because I am luke warm to both of you.
I go by the rules until I figure out how to break them.

cofty I like and respect your ministry also.
I think the eternal torment in hellfire is the everlasting cutting off that we willingly make from God.
If you are right and there is no God, you don't have to worry about it.
I don't know.
Sientifically you make a good argument, Cofty.
And you can decontruct religion, No argument about that.
I hope there is something more.
Perry seems to belong to a much differnt faith and belief system than the watchtower.
While those who profess to belief in Jesus have done a lot of evil.
Others who believe and put works behind their beliefs have done a lot of good.
It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. I am just looking for a happy ending.
.
forget jesus, the stars died so you could be born.. lawrence m. krauss, a universe from nothing: why there is something rather than nothing.
we can get a god from nothing and have no idea how this entity came into existence, but it is impossible for the believer to accept a universe from nothing.. .
It's a possibility.
I don't know what the probabilities are.
I know where to look them up though,
Either way they are astronomical.
Higher than I can count.

Keep up the good work Perry.
Don't let them grind you down.
